Ogg Vs. Mp3
At Let's J.am, we use two file formats for sharing our self created music. Both formats have their benefits, and both have their costs. The first format is the common MP3 and the second format is lesser known OGG.
Why Mp3?
Mp3s are great because they are common and easily played. They offer very good sound quality for the file size. Because of this, we have elected to use mp3s as our stacked (or full mix) music tracks.
Why Ogg?
Oggs are great because they tend to have higher quality sound but still retain small sizes. They are also better supported by Reaper, and because we use ogg for our tracked (one layer) tracks, they align much better across platforms.
