Jams | Rock | Comfortably Numb Improv Play Off
Starter MP3
Attached is a really simple Comfortably Numb backing track, and the idea is to have a improvisation competition, to get the blood flowing. The classic Comfortably Numb/Gilmour guitar solo sound not required, and a once over of the original is required (seriously, how can you not?). The rest should be completely original.
Try B minor pentatonic/blues, and D major/C major for the chorus.
Info: Bm, 120bpm, 5:12 m:s

This isn't much but it's something, I just noodled around with my Strat and Native Instrument Guitar Rig's Gilmour setting. I can do better, I know, but it's the best so far. ;-)

Wow perfecttool, great playing. I really like it when you play around with more melodic repetitive stuff accentuated with some of the fast stuff. Far too many folks just play at mind numbing speed and forget about anything that resembles a melody.
You're getting better Emos, I can hear some nice phrases in there. Sometimes they get a little clumsy but overall its some pretty tasty stuff!

Love the song, played a minute or so. Couple of cool licks. Puncuation... I'll do another when I can feel my face again.
Once again, sick playing lowlandr! I'd love to put together a little duet jam with you on something. Great feel.

Ok so I felt the urge to try a gilmourish style solo here... Ripped off lots of licks from the original; over all kinda boring and faded it out at the end as a sure sign of a solo going nowhere LOL...
You know lowlandr, that 1 minute and 15 second post of yours just might be the best contribution on this website... such feel I get shivers.

Wow! Thanks :) You know... I practice sweep licks, modes, open voicing, speed speed speed, etc and try to expand what I know/use but when it comes down to showtime I pretty much stick to the bluesrock roots I learned from livin/playin in Macon for 20 years. Play with conviction, PUNCTUATE those lines!, remember to let the guitar breathe(Duane Allman). I never took the time to learn much about theory and I'm trying to backfill at this late date. I started playing when I was 7 and I'm 52...never stop reaching, it's what we do :) This is a great site and I will be posting more as time permits. I really appreciate your appreciation lol.
i think im like an hour away from macon lol

Funny cause I think I'm about 20 years away from Macon if you catch my drift.
Macon was a good place to grow up on guitar, I was like 18 when I got there. There be monsters.
